The Sewickley Community Center, a 50(3)c non-profit, will host their Juneteenth Festival, Saturday, June 19, 2021. Join us in recognizing and celebrating the rich history of Sewickley through the Juneteenth Celebration!
Juneteenth is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery. The village of Sewickley and its surrounding communities played a vital part in the migration of former slaves to the North—this migration helped the area to richly prosper resulting in the uniquely diverse and culturally thriving community that we live in today.
We invite you to become a part of this growing and evolving Sewickley tradition. The Flow Band, Pittsburgh’s premier reggae dance band, will be headlining our celebration.
It will be a full day of fun for the entire family that includes STEM activities hosted by the Girl Scouts, a panel discussion featuring leaders from the fields of education, the arts, the non-profit sector, corporate and community business leaders, a variety of food options, opportunities to purchase unique merchandise, and a Ninja training course for the young and the old! As well as the opportunity to learn about the unique, deep-rooted history of the communities that make up Sewickley Valley.
We are extremely excited and hope that you will consider becoming a sponsor this year. If you have a level in mind that isn’t here, please let us know and we can customize one for you.
With your help we can make the 2021 Juneteenth Festival a festive, fun gathering for the entire community!
